Lamiglas FL843 fiberglas fly rod

It has been quite a long time since I last laid my hands on the Lamiglas fly rod blank. I am glad that I was given the opportunity to build one by my friend. He wanted a rattan wrap, "no problem" I said. I would love to make one of those for him.

I started off with the cork grip.

And I am done with the rattan grip.

Rattan grip was given a few coats of Spar Urethane.

The rattan grip and down locking reel seat with burled wood insert are mounted onto the blank.

The next step would be the snake guides preparation. Although the snake guide came with pre-prep foot but for better wrapping at the foot work, it need to be grind and sand down again.

My wrapping work normally will start off with the hook keeper. I used Pearsall's Gossamer jasper silk thread for this rod.

It always gives a vintage looks to the rod.

All guides wrapped and color preserver applied.

Later the "LAMIGLAS" water delay was laid on the rod.

A simply feather inlay placed near  the "Lamiglas" water decal and epoxied.

Rod epoxied and done..

Labelling on rod sock.
