Project " Rosenbergii II "

A quick overview of another rosenbergii rod that I built before my fishing / prawning trip over the weekend.

The blank used was a solid carbon fiber blank measured at 4'8" and ultralight rated.

Carbon insert SG-reel seat with butt-less EVA rear grip and fuji winding check capped at the front of the reel seat.

ALPS stainless steel frame with zirconium ring spinning guides.

Guides lined up placement similar to KR-concept

Munster IZ's Baitcaster from RF GT-Zero Blank



I have never tested nor built any of this blank before although I have seen their advertisement and promotion film on YouTube and some people commented how great this blank is.... 



I do not know about others but I personally don't really fancy this blank.

Cosmetically this blank is matt finished and a glance at it, it look like a Lamiglas blank but the matt effect is sprayed on.

The matt coating will come off if scratched with hard object, hooks or lures.

The original finish of this blank is gloss black and this can be observed when you peel off the rod decal.

This blank has a fast action similar to any bass fishing blank and the bending moment is very forgiving. It doesn't feel like any IM6 blanks, but very similar to PacBay Quickline blank.  

Well, that is just my personally point of view.

Just the HANDLE....

I have got this one time special request from a friend who just wanted me to do up the handle.

Yup, just the handle. Maybe my wrappings and epoxy work is not up to par.  : )

He says, "simple handle will do like the Shimano Poison Glorious rod ONLY"
Gosh.. that simple huh! I will just try la... but ain't sure what will come out..

Stacked and glued the cork rings that he hand-picked himself... no joke!
Extra grade... super AAA grade , what's the difference??? nothing really..!

The glued stacked cork rings was left to dry for a couple of days before it was shaped.

Components was then fitted to it for a test.

Fitting the fighting butt.

Fitting KDPS hood to the ECS custom gloss black painted reel seat with MATAGI butt cap at the background. Then the cork foregrip, rear grip and fighting butt was sealed with U-40 Corkseal.

Fixing the short carbon tube to the fighting butt. 

The 2mm gap between the cork and the carbon tube sealed with epoxy. The diameter of this area had to be made smaller to fit in the aluminum trim. The handle project stopped here for a day to let the epoxy to cure.

Later, the female part ( screw ) of the butt cap was inserted in the carbon tube before the fighting butt and other parts were glued on.

After the complete assembly of the handle, the blank was inserted and glued.

The top part of the reel seat was sealed off with Fuji graphite winding check.

The gap between the blank and reel seat opening sealed with Fuji graphite winding check.

At last, the opening at the foregrip was made bigger to fit the OD of the blank.

So, did I do want my friend wanted????

The answer is NO...!!!! LOL......

He wanted the shape of this...

But I gave him this.......

A more sexier glass hour....

PB Buster

Another MHX blank built light action bait casting rod.

Blank model SJ782 MHX at 6'6" of length and rated 6-12lb. This is the 2nd SJ782 blank I used to build a bait casting rod. It has got nice tip action and a strong backbone.

Matagi components are used for this built.

Open front with carbon tube fore grip on KDPS, mounted on a FUJI ACS reel seat. Split EVA handle on the clear carbon tube.

I finished off the open front of the reel seat with an aluminum trim.

A final check on the back spine of the blank  before the guides goes on it

Simple black wrapping with metallic silver trim.

As for the fore grip area, metallic silver wrapping with duo black trimming at the centre.

Then inverted wrapping , black thread wrapping with duo silver trimming at the centre holding the Fuji hook keeper.

Peacock Bass decal on one side.....

and rod decal on the other.
