Replacing EVA grip and reel seat for spinning rod

Simple and straight forward task.

Remove old grip and reel seat. Clean up the blank to receive new EVA grip and reel seat. Originally it was a normal reel seat setup but change to split grip setup with carbon effect vinyl inlay.


Original condition


Hypalon fore grip , rear grip and reel seat removed. Epoxy residue removed.


Install new EVA split grip and reel seat


Carbon effect vinyl inlay


Completed face lift of spinning reel seat and split grip.

  2. Hello Fernado, Thank you for visiting my blog.
    The Hypalon grips cut away and reel seat are slightly heated with a hot air gun to ease the removal.
    The epoxy residue were also slightly heated up and then submerged in ice water. I repeated that process a few times, the epoxy became more brittle and easy to scrap off.
    The front EVA grip were turned to shape before installing, the rear grip and fighting butt were purchased from Mudhole.
