LAMIGLAS the honeybrown fly rod.

This is one of the best fiberglass fly blank from Lamiglas that I have came across. Of course, that is my personal opinion, perhaps some of you might not agreed with me. 

You will agree with me if you have cast this crispy sweet lil'rod before.

Extra grade cork rings for the grip.

 

The blank with double sliding band burled wood reel seat.

 

Cork rings stacked, glued and lathed to form this cigar cork grip.

 

Started with the feather inlay.

 

 Completed feather inlay with rod decal.

Epoxy coated the feather inlay.

Chrome light wire snake guides with agate stripping guide.

 

Old school wrapping design to agate stripping guide and the rest of the snake guides.

 

Epoxy job. The thread looks slightly reddish due lighting effect.

Another 4 months project. Spent quite some time test fitting before the actual gluing took place.

Blank - North Fork (IM) 6'6" 12-25lb

Then the cork grips are coated with U-40 Cork Seal.

New Fiberglass Fly Rod Blanks

After testing a few prototypes of this newly tapered fiberglass, finally a new blank color was chosen.

This 6'6" 3 piece 3wt fiberglass blank is slightly faster than those conventional fiberglass blanks that I have used previously, thus this will provide a better controllability to the caster.

Zeds KR-Concept Spinning

Building of a KR Concept spinning rod from the St Croix SC3 6-12lb fast action blank.

The main ingredient ... SC3 - 3S60MF

Fuji Alconite KL guides

Fuji VSS reel seat with KDPS hood and EVA fore grip. Actual planned for EVA butt piece but later was changed to aluminum deco butt cap.

Setting up of handle. The split handle is actually shorter in the completed rod.

Rod decal installation with metallic wrapping at both ends.

Metallic trimming at exposed blank of the split grip area.

Metallic thread wrapping to KL guides pending epoxy.

After-epoxy effect. Turned slightly darker in shades.

ODD Colors Edition - Flouro Green

I have been trying out odd colors wrapping on fly blanks. The last time was nylon Lime Green which gives translucent effects on the blank.

This time around on a 6' 6" 3pc 3wt fiberglass blank , I used color-fast thread in Fluorescent green. I don't expect the thread to turned dark or translucent, it will be slightly in darker shade I think.

Finished wrapping and ready for epoxy.

After epoxy.. obviously, the thread color remain the same. Did not see any changes to the color.

Outstanding color. I bet this color will look really nice on a black blank but that is another project...

Fiberglass fly rod - The 6'9" YELLOW Bugger #3

This YELLOW blank have been "standing" at the corner of my working bench at least for 6 months before I could find the time to finish it up.



Piece by piece...
Initially I planned to recycle this butt cap and sliding band but was changed to a chrome finished parts.

The 1st layer of thread winding check on the cork grip.

Finish layer of the front check pending epoxy.

Agate stripped guide wrapped with Gudebrod classic twist thread.

After epoxy finishing.
