MOCHA 6'6" 3pc 3wt Fast action glass fly rod

Started this many many months ago, but just finished the epoxy a few days back. 

This is a 3 sections fiberglass fly rod with spigot ferrule measured at 6'6" when put together.

Nicely designed blank taper which give it a fast action with lots of power at the mid and butt section and yet not losing the feel of a fiberglass rod.

Giving it a simple straight cork grip. Stacking and gluing the cork rings directly on the blank.

After having to lathed. Perfectly straight.

Down locking reel seat with burled wood insert.

The bare rod with only handle on.

Getting the guides on. Wrapped with brown nylon thread. Fiberglass fly rods always goes nicely with nylon threads wrapping.

Done with the epoxy.

Fiberglass AmbeR 6'6" 2/3wt Fly Rod

This is the last piece of such blank in my keeping. I want to finish this fly rod with the standard simplest way a fly rod should be. No fancy inlays and no fancy wrapping.

Amber is the color of this fiberglass blank. It is neither orange nor yellow. Not brown either. 

The handle setup was done many months ago. This project was put on hold for my jigging rod built.

Half wells cork grip with timber insert up locking reel seat.

I prefer to use nylon threads on fly rods. I just love the effect of the threads when it is coated with epoxy.

After the wrapping was epoxy.

No decals but just hand sketch of the rod info on the rod

And to finish off this rod, the cork handle are sealed with cork seal.

2/3 WT WHITE fiberglass fly rod

This is a new series... well, not so new as of now.. translucent white fiberglass fly rod blank that I received a few months ago.

It has got lesser dirt in the blank wall. The quality of the fiberglass blank has improve tremendously compared to those I got a few years back.

Going to built it simple with a burled wood insert downlocking reel seat and a reverse half wells cork handle.

Prep stripping guide and snake guide.

Pearsall's Silk Thread for wrapping.

Customization of a fiberglass fly rods are hard to come by nowadays.. but thanks to another fly avid I had a chance to have this built.

This is a 3 piece , 6'6" 3wt brown translucent fiberglass fly rod blank.
The action of this blank is not as noodle as those normal 3wt fiberglass fly rod. Soft and sensitive tip with moderate action but it has got plenty of power at the lower section for shooting your line out.  

 Agated butt cap for the sliding band reel seat.

Agated stripping guide and dark brown nylon for the wrapping.

The cigar shape handle for this fly rod is rattan wrapped. As shown in my previous write up , Rattan Wrapping to cork grip from scratch..

New Fly ROD project

This is an entirely new taper for this tobacco fiberglass blank which I would consider it as a fast action fiberglass rod. Of course, you can't compare this "fast" with a graphite fly rod.

A 3 section 6'6" at 3wt. This blank got a translucent brown colour finishing.

Fiberglass fly rod - The 6'9" YELLOW Bugger #3

This YELLOW blank have been "standing" at the corner of my working bench at least for 6 months before I could find the time to finish it up.



Piece by piece...
Initially I planned to recycle this butt cap and sliding band but was changed to a chrome finished parts.

The 1st layer of thread winding check on the cork grip.

Finish layer of the front check pending epoxy.

Agate stripped guide wrapped with Gudebrod classic twist thread.

After epoxy finishing.
