Fiberglass AmbeR 6'6" 2/3wt Fly Rod

This is the last piece of such blank in my keeping. I want to finish this fly rod with the standard simplest way a fly rod should be. No fancy inlays and no fancy wrapping.

Amber is the color of this fiberglass blank. It is neither orange nor yellow. Not brown either.

The handle setup was done many months ago. This project was put on hold for my jigging rod built.

Half wells cork grip with timber insert up locking reel seat.

I prefer to use nylon threads on fly rods. I just love the effect of the threads when it is coated with epoxy.

After the wrapping was epoxy.

No decals but just hand sketch of the rod info on the rod

And to finish off this rod, the cork handle are sealed with cork seal.

and done..

MINI weight BAMBOO rod in ONE piece

This bamboo blank was made by a fellow local bamboo rod maker which have been making bamboo rods even before I learned to do mine.

Measured at 5 feet plus, this blank definitely need to be extended. But before that, 2 coating of SPAR urethane was given to the blank and let dry for 24 hours.

A carbon graphite blank was used to extend the length of this bamboo rod to 5'6" which is just nice for little streams.

Half wells cork grip and a down locking burled wood insert reel seat for this bamboo rod.

Light wire snake guides and Pearsall's Silk 'Golden Rod' for this rod.

A glimpse of the bamboo rod before a thin epoxy coating is applied to the wrappings.

Translucent finish after epoxy coating.

Fast action glass fly rod with LIME GREEN wraps

This is another fast action 3 section 6'-6" 3wt fiberglass blank.
The blank is not painted but dipped with spar urethane as what they do with bamboo blanks. The translucent white fiberglass blank turned slightly yellowish due to the spar coating.

Installed with a half wells cork grip and up locking reel seat. Snake guides placement marked on the blank.

Used lime green nylon thread for wrapping. I have seen others wrapping with this colour and it look very nice but never tried it. So, this is it...

Wrapping done and time for epoxy to do its' magic.

After coated the thread with epoxy, it turned slightly translucent like all nylon threads does. At a certain angle , you can see right through the guide foot.
Luckily  I had all the guide foot prep before wrapping it.

And it is all done.. the first LIME GREEN wraps!

" Olive Green " Fiberglass fly rod

I acquired this blank from China a few months ago. They used to make a lot of carbon graphite blanks but recently more fiberglass blanks are made due to a higher demand for it.

Half wells and a burled wood single band reel seat was used for this rod.
