Megabass Butt extention

Another butt extension project. Second megabass rod for butt extension. Don't know why but most rod of this brand comes with a heavy tips

Removal of a few pieces of cork end to ease the removal of the butt cap                                

Very very thin butt section. I think originally there is another joint near the reel seat.

I took quiet a long time to find a blank that fit the butt end of this rod. The cork rings are stacked and glued 1  by 1.

Shaping the cork handle to match the jointing part.

Lastly, a coat of the cork seal and finish off with the butt cap.

ME's Andrew's + MATAGI baitcasting rod

Some old school look for this built up with Andrew's fishing burled wood insert and silver color hardware.

MHX light action blank rated 6-12lb 6'6" in length.

The pre-form cork rear handle comes in 10" length.

Then it was shorten to 7"

Translucent #2wt Glass

Just a quick update on my rod building work done last week.
Clear translucent 2wt fiberglass 6'6" 2 section fly rod blank.

Down locking burled wood insert reel seat and AAA grade pre-form half wells cork grip.

To cut the long story short, I will just post the photos of the completed rod.

The cork grip was finished with a coat of U40 Cork Seal and it look slightly darker.

MOCHA 6'6" 3pc 3wt Fast action glass fly rod

Started this many many months ago, but just finished the epoxy a few days back. 

This is a 3 sections fiberglass fly rod with spigot ferrule measured at 6'6" when put together.

Nicely designed blank taper which give it a fast action with lots of power at the mid and butt section and yet not losing the feel of a fiberglass rod.

Giving it a simple straight cork grip. Stacking and gluing the cork rings directly on the blank.

After having to lathed. Perfectly straight.

Down locking reel seat with burled wood insert.

The bare rod with only handle on.

Getting the guides on. Wrapped with brown nylon thread. Fiberglass fly rods always goes nicely with nylon threads wrapping.

Done with the epoxy.

1wt FIBERGLASS fly rod

Once awhile a nice fly rod project will come around. This time a 1wt fiberglass fly rod in amber color.

REC down locking sliding band reel seat. A nice lil' reel seat for this lil' rod.

Extra grade cork rings, glued, stacked and lathed on the blank.

Test fitting the reel seat. The ID of the reel seat is actually smaller than the blank, I have to file it to fit the blank.

Then, the amber agate stripping guide goes on and so are the rest of the snake guides.

After the wrappings are epoxied.

and it is good to go...

Fiberglass AmbeR 6'6" 2/3wt Fly Rod

This is the last piece of such blank in my keeping. I want to finish this fly rod with the standard simplest way a fly rod should be. No fancy inlays and no fancy wrapping.

Amber is the color of this fiberglass blank. It is neither orange nor yellow. Not brown either. 

The handle setup was done many months ago. This project was put on hold for my jigging rod built.

I prefer to use nylon threads on fly rods. I just love the effect of the threads when it is coated with epoxy.

After the wrapping was epoxy.

No decals but just hand sketch of the rod info on the rod

And to finish off this rod, the cork handle are sealed with cork seal.
