Maroon '5' from Langkawi

The 'maroon' blank travels 420 km to reach me.. Yes, 420 km from Langkawi island to Puchong.

Not sure of the origin of this blank, but it's a 4 section graphite blank with fast action and rated at 5wt according to the owner of the blank.

Handle set up for this fly rod. Full wells cork grip, down locking reel seat with burl wood insert and the EVA bottom fighting butt.

Standard snake guides

Nylon 'scarlet' thread for the wrapping.

Wrapping of the stripping guide before epoxy.

This is how it look after epoxy. I must say the 'scarlet' thread really goes well with this blank.

Completed the guide wrapping pending epoxy.

Done with the epoxy

And finally, seal up the cork handle

Another #EPIC story and more to come...

This another EPIC job I picked up earlier and completing it before my 4 days break to the highlands.

It' a 3 section EPIC glass, 7'6" 3wt.

A very simple built with straight cork grip and standard guides.

Stacked cork rings for the grip.

Standard snake guides and stripping guide.

The first cork grip didn't really turn out nice and I had to do another. If I cannot accept the quality of the shaping, I don't think my friend would accept it either.

The sliding band reel seat and cork grip being put together.

Wrapping of stripping guide with brown nylon thread. My friend wanted the wrappings black and I told him , no worries. It will turn black... well almost black when I am done with it.

The wrapping after epoxy.

2/3 WT WHITE fiberglass fly rod

This is a new series... well, not so new as of now.. translucent white fiberglass fly rod blank that I received a few months ago.

It has got lesser dirt in the blank wall. The quality of the fiberglass blank has improve tremendously compared to those I got a few years back.

Going to built it simple with a burled wood insert downlocking reel seat and a reverse half wells cork handle.

Prep stripping guide and snake guide.

Pearsall's Silk Thread for wrapping.

Silk wrapped..

New Fly ROD project

This is an entirely new taper for this tobacco fiberglass blank which I would consider it as a fast action fiberglass rod. Of course, you can't compare this "fast" with a graphite fly rod.

A 3 section 6'6" at 3wt. This blank got a translucent brown colour finishing.

Test fitting the cork grip and reel seat.

Wrapping with mid brown nylon thread.

Decal..

Completed ...

Golden Brown UL fiberglass fly rod

This is another ultralight 2/3wt fiberglass fly rods that I built along with the earlier PESOT rod. I just can't resist to make another rattan grip.

Below are a few of the photos taken of the completed rod.

Rustic 5 Classic Fiberglass fly rod

Had this done up during the festive break. A 2 piece 7'6" 5wt fiberglass fly rod built with classic design element. Some classic fly rods usually have single color wraps with white color trim and most of the time the white trim are painted on.

Full wells cork grip and up-locking reel seat.

Simple black wrapping with white trim.

After a few coat of thin epoxy. I try to make the epoxy as thin as possible by thinning the epoxy with acetone.
