Matagi UL for upcoming UAG Southern series 2016

2nd rod for this year is another MATAGI hollow fiberglass blank ultralight built. I did that the same fish weaving design on it. Just thought I need more practice to get it right.

It is far from what I expected it to be. Still need more practice, I guess.

Baitcasting Rod for Heavy cover fishing 7' 12-25lb

Planned almost 4 months ago, a standard heavy cover bait casting rod and additional design added along the way.

Simple components. Fuji TCS reel seat custom painted gloss black, fuji rubber gimbal, aluminium extended and custom shaped CAMO EVA split handle.

Used CRB 12-25lb 7' blank for this rod.

Test fitting handle before gluing up.

MHX 6'6" 12-25lb Heavy Lifter

I managed to finish a couple of rods before closing up for 2015.



 

This is another 12-25lb 6'6" for heavy cover. A simple built for its' functionality and within the budget given.

The components consisted of a Fuji ACS reel seat, KDPS, MHX blanks, ALPS zirconium ring guides, CAMO EVA and a MATAGI butt cap.

GLoomis handle Redo

Another handle refurbishment, upgrade , modify.. or whatever you want to call it.

This is a heavy GLoomis rod





The foregrip, reel seat and rear grip was stripped and removed.

A new CAMO Blue EVA rear grip lathed for the replacement.



Replaced foregrip and Fuji custom painted Gloss Black  ECS.

The end was finished off with Fuji Rubber butt cap.

It may look pretty easy to do, but it ain't....

The BIG one.

I would say that this is one of the heaviest rod ( in terms of poundage ) that I have built. This Musky / Steelhead blank for MHX is rated at 15-40lb and 7 feet of length.

My friend said this rod is for BIG fish. LOL..
For the convenience of travelling, this blank was shorten to 6'6".

The concept for this rod is CAMOuflage. That is the rough idea how the handle is going to be..

The exposed blank at the split butt was wrapped with twisted thread for 'tiger' wrap effect.

Wrapping was done too in front of the fore grip.

The guides are wrapped using the same color thread.

All guides are UP..
