fisheR's Custom Jigging Blank - Trident 4-5

Another personal rod...

Making myself a heavier piece for mackerel , sails and 'tong gas' on jigs. The 5 layer toray carbon X-wrap blank have a blank wall thickness of 3mm and 6'5" long.  It's not a solid blank and the diameter of the butt is roughly measured 11mm.

I used a size #17 VSS fuji  reelseat with EVA foregrip on the KDPS and ALPS double leg guides.

MHX custom built for Old School Pistol Grip handle

Yet another MHX  blank for this project. A 6-12lb 6'6" shorten roughly about 6" to accommodate the pistol grip to make the overall length of the rod at 6'6"

The aluminum ferrule was custom made to fit the blank and the design of the  follows the standard aluminum ferrule available in the market.

The butt of the blank fitted nicely to the ferrule.

MHX Medium action spiral baitcasting rod

Another full cork rear handle rod in the making. Many prefers this kinda cork handle nowadays. I don't know why... maybe it's trending now. Why not EVA? Why cork? Is it better??  For all I know, it's still a very personal preference. Some love it and some don't...

Normal I will do this a few times , just to be sure.

These guides are from ALPS with zirconium rings. Had no problem with them for all the rods that I have built . Spiral guide placement.

Project " Rosenbergii II "

A quick overview of another rosenbergii rod that I built before my fishing / prawning trip over the weekend.

The blank used was a solid carbon fiber blank measured at 4'8" and ultralight rated.

Carbon insert SG-reel seat with butt-less EVA rear grip and fuji winding check capped at the front of the reel seat.

Completing my 9 months old project - PacBay 6' 6-10lb

Half way done and tucked in 1 corner of the room, left unnoticed until spring cleaning. I guess it was time to have it completed and fish. Just found out that I don't have any light weight tackle and with this I hope I have all the range needed..

Trying to use up the balance of the abalone veneer left over from my previous rod project. It would be sufficient to cover the split butt section and the intermediate section between the skeleton reel seat.

The abalone overlay to the rod blank are done before any other components are fixed. A few layers of epoxy coating was applied onto the veneer.

CHAMPAGNE Corker Ultralight

This is another fun project which I had in mind for a long long time and I just have to do it before this idea got buried by some other ideas.


I have been collecting some champagne corks for awhile and thanks to my air stewardess sis-in-law, I have a full bags of it in my workshop.


The champagne cork goes well with the burled wood insert reel seat that I managed to get my hands on a few weeks back.

No additional finishes was done to the champagne cork. I just bore the hole for it to be inserted to the blank.

Rattan wrapping to the exposed section of the split butt and also at the fore grip area.
 

By the way, the brand of this blank that I used for this project is Viper Fatale 601. It's a 6 footer ultralight 1-6lb.

 

I used ALPS zirconium ring spinning guides for the rod. Wrapping the guides with brown color non CP thread.
