Almost done with the down locking fore grip rods..
Now, I just have another 2 more to complete. Since this rod does not have any fore grip, I thought of adding feather inlays to make it more interesting. Feather inlay.. or I like to call it "feathering"... is not uncommon to rod builders in US. They do fantastic feather inlays to their rods. Well, some people loves it but some find it over doing..
It looks plain above the winding check. Even if I write the rod information at that area , it still looks plain.
I don't do weaving wraps , it's just too complicated for me. The next best thing to do is to do a simple feather inlay.
I wanted to use some jungle cock feather for the inlay and to make it 'stand out' from the matte black rod, I have to a chrome color thread under wrap.
Now, I just need to give it a few coat of epoxy....

Completing the LAMIs
The 1st one was epoxied a few days back and now the 2nd one is on the drying jig..
Next will be the MHX blanks..
But before that, I have to completed this for another friend who is in need of the rod for fishing...
It took me 2 days to fix up the split grips and the reel seats. Tomorrow, I'll starting to wrap the guides for this rods.

Continuation of the LAMIGLAS casting rod
I used a medium heavy top for this Lamiglas casting rod. The tip was short about 1.5".
Turn my own cork handle for split grip..
I wrapped the guides with YLI green silk thread. Looks nice.. and the contrast of the color is not as bad as I imagine it to be.

MHX Baitcasting rod 6'6" 8~14lb
This rod was put on hold since December last year... and finally it is done. The Alconite tip top was delivered last week. Glued, wrapped and epoxied yesterday..
LAMIGLAS fiberglass casting rod for a friend..
I have promised my friend to build for him 4 casting rods and all 4 have to be completed by July..
I have to start now or else, I will not be able to get it done on time..
He wants 2 fiberglass and 2 graphite casting rods..and I will be starting off with the fiberglass first.
He gave me a brief specification of the rod he wanted... light, good fish handling power but soft or so called moderate slow, easy to handle and the rest is up to me..
The fiberglass rods will be from Lamiglas, Skeet Reese bass rod blanks series. I will be reconfiguring a 1 piece 7 footer at 8~20lb to a 6'6" 10~18lb... in simpler terms, cutting it short.
Marked the spine and then cutting it short...

Something different to start off in MARCH 2011
This is the 1st time I did something totally unrelated to rod building..
Yup.... I made a pair of wooden knob for my ABU Ambassadeur C4 baitcasting reel handle.
I owned this reel for 10 years and the rubber knobs are giving way. So, I removed the rubber knobs and replaced it with wooden knobs.
